Our pastor, Tim Davis, began serving in Guatemala with the Pineywoods Camp staff & Mike Brister of Stepstones Ministry International, to build homes for orphans & widowed moms among the Mayan people groups. Our efforts are carefully guided through the wisdom of career-missionary Teri Littrell & The House of Healing Foundation. Click HERE to learn more about Teri & the House of Healing ministry. Many of our church members sponsor children to attend public school in Guatemala. The cost is $200 per child per year. Sponsorships are available through the House of Healing Foundation.
We began our "solo" efforts in Guatemala in 2014 when a team of 10 Bethel missionaries built 2 houses. In 2015, our team of 14 built 2 houses & 2 stoves. Watch the 2014 & 2015 videos to get a glimpse of how God used us, & how He might be calling you. In 2016, our team of 17 built 3 houses & 3 stoves. See the three different 2016 construction team videos for a glimpse at our week. In 2017, our team of 20 built two houses (each with stoves) & a new kitchen facility for the local public school in Agua Escondida (complete with two stoves). In 2018, we built 3 houses & stoves for precious families. In 2019, our team of 25 built 3 more houses & stoves, as well as leading English classes in the local public school. In February 2020, our team of more than 20 built 3 houses & stoves, as well as teaching English in the local public school. Also in 2020, Pastor Rigo Aguilar (from Costa Rica) joined us in Guatemala. Pastor Rigo used his skills as a taylor to teach sewing classes to locals who visited the House of Healing. In 2021, our teams built houses in February & in April. In 2022, we sent a team that built a home in February, & another team will build two more homes in October. We are now accepting applications for team members for trips in February & April of 2023. Special thanks to Pineywoods Camp & PowerPlus Camps who initially funded the construction of our houses & assisted our team members to go. Funding for our houses is now provided solely by donors who give sacrificially.
